  • Develop transferrable skills such event management, marketing, promotion, ability to translate research to practice, etc.

Volunteer Opportunities

HPO relies on the work of our volunteers – from the Board of Directors to our committees. If you’re interested in finding out more about our the volunteer opportunities available through HPO including the benefits associated with each committee and the impact each committee makes in towards preventing hazing, review the committee volunteer descriptions.

Volunteer Expectations

HPO expects its volunteers to be active participants in their volunteer assignments. To better understand our expectations, review the job description for each committee as described above as well as the Procedures Manual and Volunteer Management Plan.

Our volunteer efforts are managed through the Procedures Manual.

We have a Volunteer Management Plan to ensure year-round attention to serving volunteers' needs. We appoint on a year-round basis, but most volunteers are appointed in September for the October 1-September 30 volunteer appointment cycle. All volunteers should complete a volunteer involvement form each year.

"For a sponsoring organization to truly maximize its return on investment, I strongly encourage having a staff member serve as a volunteer for HPO. Learning and networking with colleagues, many of whom I may not have worked with otherwise, through my service as a HPO volunteer has made me more effective in my position as Director of Risk Reduction for Sigma Nu Fraternity."
