Internship Position

HazingPrevention.Org is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization operating from Denver, Colorado.

Our mission is to empower people to prevent hazing in college and university student groups. We are best known as the creators of National Hazing Prevention Week and the Novak Institute for Hazing Prevention.

Ideal Candidate:

The ideal candidate will be an undergraduate or graduate student with a strong opposition to hazing and an interest in student affairs, non-profit management, communications, marketing or business. S/he will need to be highly motivated, with strong written and oral communication skills, demonstrated leadership ability and strong organizational skills.  This candidate must also be self-motivated to work sometimes from home as well as the office.  

The Position:

The intern will provide 20-30 hours of work per week, including informing the Executive Director each week about tasks and progress on projects. The internship is unpaid, but there is the possibility of an honorarium at the end for outstanding work. We are also happy to work with students who wish to earn academic credit for their time with us. The internship will be at least a 3-4 month commitment, and the start and end dates are flexible. Work can be structured to allow for an additional part-time job.  Part of this internship maybe done remotely.

Benefits:

The Summer and Fall 2012 intern will work from our office in Denver, CO, and housing will be provided in a furnished townhouse to be shared with an intern from CAMPUSPEAK. Both interns will have their own room and bathroom.

Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and tasks for the internship will vary widely depending upon the current needs of the organization. Some examples of specific duties are:

  • Management of social media campaigns and increasing the organization’s mailing list
  • Research and development of new content for website and social media groups
  • Collecting and compiling data about campus or organization hazing prevention efforts
  • Communication with organization volunteers and assisting with projects of committees
  • Promotion of programs, resources and services of the organization including webinars, Prevention Institute, awards & contests and online store
  • Assist with collection and compilation of assessment data and other information
  • Acquiring more sponsorships for the orginization
  • Other responsibilities such as filing, shipping, errands, mailings, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.
